The Authority's Countywide Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) outlines strategies that support pedestrian-friendly developments and encourages a connected, coordinated network of bicycle facilities.  To help carry out these strategies, the Authority has adopted its Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan (CBPP).  The first CBPP was adopted in 2003 and updated in 2009.  The 2009 CBPP:

  • Updated existing conditions, especially the collision data and commuting statistics for pedestrians and bicyclists
  • Updated priorities for pedestrian improvements and the countywide bicycle network
  • Provided planning, design and implementation tools and other resources to local jurisdictions
  • Updated implementation tasks and established evaluation criteria for prioritizing recommended improvements
  • Incorporated guidelines for pedestrian-and bicycle-friendly developments

The Authority will soon begin its next update of the CBPP.  Work on the update is expected to begin mid-2016 and continue through the end of 2017.
