Preparing for the
2008 Comprehensive Transportation Plan

The Countywide Comprehensive Transportation Plan establishes and implements the Authority’s vision to “preserve and enhance the quality of life and promote a healthy, strong economy….” In 2006, the Authority took steps to prepare for the 2008 Countywide Transportation Plan update by establishing a three-year work program, procuring consultant

resources to work on the Action Plans for Routes of Regional Significance, and fine-tuning our tools and procedures.

Keeping Our
Planning Tools “State-of-the-Art”

In 2006, the Authority updated the procedures that planners will follow when applying the Countywide Travel Model, the Authority’s state-of-the-art travel forecasting tool, and added new mapping capabilities. This update included conducting a comprehensive local review of the forecast growth in households and jobs within each of the 1,735 zones used in the Countywide Model.
