Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Update
Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Update
The Authority has begun updating the Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan (CBPP), which is slated for completion over the next year. The update will not only provide a basis for local jurisdictions to become eligible for Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) funds, it will also address the new provisions of Measure J (especially the Pedestrian, Bicycle and Trails Facilities program), MTC's new routine accommodation requirements and other changes since the CBPP's adoption in 2003.
The Authority has now released the Issues and Options Report, the first public review document in the update process. You can also download updated maps of existing and planned bicycle facilities that the jurisdictions have told us about. We hope local staff and the public will review these maps and correct any errors and make suggestions for other changes.
You can download the Issues and Options Report (PDF, 3.2 MB) here along with its appendices (PDF, 6.3 MB). There also updated for five areas of Contra Costa:
- West County - WCCTAC (PDF, 916 KB)
- Central County - TRANSPAC (PDF, 1.6 MB)
- SWAT - Lamorinda (PDF, 1.1 MB)
- East County – TRANSPLAN (Northern), (PDF, 1.1 MB)
- San Ramon Valley and East County – TRANSPLAN (Southern), (PDF, 1.2 MB)
The report serves several purposes:
- It summarizes the data we’ve collected from local agencies so far,
- It outlines possible changes to key sections of the Plan including revised goals and policies, new prioritization methods, and model policies and checklists that the plan could include, and
- It provides a foundation for community input.
We have scheduled three workshops to allow the public to weigh in on the data collected and the changes proposed, as well as additional changes people think would improve the CBPP.
- September 15 at the Tri Delta Transit offices in Antioch (80 Wilbur Avenue, Antioch CA)
- September 18 at the Authority offices (3478 Buskirk Avenue, Suite 100, Pleasant Hill CA
- September 23 at Maple Hall in San Pablo (1 Alvarado Square, San Pablo CA)
All three workshops will run from 7 to 9 p.m.
