COMMUNITY INVITED TO WEIGH-IN ON DRAFT 2017 COUNTYWIDE TRANSPORTATION PLAN UPDATE AT JUNE 29TH OPEN HOUSE

WHAT: The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) is hosting a public open house to inform the public about the recently released Draft 2017 Countywide Transportation Plan and to encourage public comments. The Countywide Transportation Plan (CTP) provides the overall direction for achieving and maintaining a balanced and functional transportation system within Contra Costa while strengthening links between land use decisions and transportation.

WHEN: Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: 2999 Oak Road, Suite 150, Walnut Creek, CA (Please note: Meeting location is in close proximity to the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre BART station, visit http://511.org/ for trip planning)

WHO: All Contra Costa County constituents

WHY:  CCTA is responsible for maintaining and improving the County’s transportation system by planning, funding and delivering critical transportation infrastructure projects and programs that connect our communities, foster a strong economy, and safely and efficiently get people where they need to go. The CTP will help shape the future of transportation projects in Contra Costa County. Public input is essential for developing a plan that reflects our shared priorities for transportation options and the public open house is a great opportunity to learn more and make your voice heard.

• An update to the CTP will help to refresh Contra Costa’s transportation vision, goals, and strategies.

• An updated CTP will ensure that the Authority re-calibrates, re-forecasts, re-positions, and re-thinks our transportation future based upon public input.

• Measures C & J require that the Authority develop, adopt, and periodically update the CTP.

CCTA released the Draft 2017 CTP Update for public review on May 24, 2017. The 2017 CTP Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) was released on June 16, 2017. Both documents are available for download at www.2017CTPUpdate.net . The comment period for the CTP and DEIR runs through August 1, 2017.

Members of the public who are not able to attend the June 29 open house are encouraged to participate in an online open house by visiting 2017CTPUpdate.net. For those who do not have access to a computer, the CTP and DEIR are available for review at all public libraries in Contra Costa.

We want to hear from you!

About The Contra Costa Transportation Authority

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) is a public agency formed by Contra Costa voters in 1988 to manage the county’s transportation sales tax program and oversee countywide transportation planning efforts. CCTA is responsible for planning, funding and delivering critical transportation infrastructure projects and programs that connect our communities, foster a strong economy, increase sustainability, and safely and efficiently get people where they need to go. CCTA also serves as the county’s designated Congestion Management Agency, responsible for putting programs in place to keep traffic levels manageable.
